Moustache Trimmer: Grooming Facial Hair, Rechargeable, Cordless And Corded Trimmers

Unless one wants to look like a confederate war general, a moustache trimmer is a device many men find useful to have in their toiletry kit. Moustaches have a tendency to grow over the lip line and can cover the entire upper lip if left unmaintained. Since this is generally not viewed as a stylish or classy look for a man, maintenance is required.
Moustache trimmers provide convenience paired with a more precise cut.
A moustache trimmer is similar in appearance to an electric razor or a beard trimmer. Moustache trimmers are elongated, usually black or shiny silver, and feature a blade on the end. One type of blade is open-toothed, which is more effective at preventing ingrown hairs. African-American men may want to consider going for an open-toothed blade as the curly nature of black people's hair increases the chance that the hair can grow back into the skin, causing it to become irritated. Moustache trimmers also give consumers the choice of single, double, or triple bladed products.
Moustache trimmers are available corded and cordless. A corded trimmer plugs into the wall and runs off electric current, while a cordless trimmer runs on battery power and allows freedom of movement. These devices are often rechargeable trimmers, which may plug into the wall to recharge or fit into a special charging port. Some cordless trimmers even allow for use in the shower, although mustachioed men will likely want to take a hand held mirror in with them to avoid trimming mistakes.
Moustache trimmers usually come with a set of tools for maintenance such as fine combs, a brush for cleaning out the old hairs, and a type of oily lubricant for the blades. But all the tools in the world won't help if a person doesn't know how to operate the moustache trimmer. Techniques vary, but trimming a moustache is generally a three-step process: comb, cut, and clean.
A small comb is first used to straighten out the hairs above the lip in a downward fashion. The user then takes the moustache trimmer and cuts just above the lip line to reveal all of the upper lip and none of the skin above – the moustache ideally ends just where the lip lines begins. Moustache trimmers can also be used for grooming in other areas where facial hair grows such as under the chin or by the ears. Sideburns can be kept at a preferred length with a moustache trimmer. The grooming device also can be used to keep a straight, clean beard line where the chin meets the neck. Cleanup is required afterward unless the trimmer comes with a chamber to catch the cut hairs.
Like shaving the old-fashioned way with a razor, using a moustache trimmer requires care and patience from the user. Hasty trimming coupled with a shaky hand can result in a sloppy grooming job and an uneven facial hair pattern. And like the moustaches themselves, moustache trimmers need to be routinely kept in order. Maintenance usually involves cleaning out hairs from the blades or emptying out the chamber when it is full of hair. Older moustache trimmers ask for the blades to be lubricated with oil periodically, although newer models exist with titanium blades (as opposed to steel) claiming no oil is needed.
Popular electronics brands like Philips and Panasonic manufacture moustache trimmers. Norelco is a brand that focuses on men's grooming. Realizing men likely don't want to buy separate tools for their different shaving needs, companies like Norelco offer all-in-one trimmers for any kind of hair that grows on the head. Norelco's cordless trimmer is priced around $19. Conair, another brand specializing in personal care products, sells a rechargeable trimmer with a detailed blade capable of creating a number of moustache styles. Their model goes for $24.99.
Keeping a moustache in check isn't only good social behavior, it's also convenient and affordable. If a man doesn't like to clean up afterwards, doesn't want to be restricted to the bathroom or prefers to trim his moustache in the shower, it doesn't matter - there's one model or another out there that's suitable for his needs.
